Training & Development

Steps of Strategy is privately funded through donations, fundraising and awards through foundation grants. If participants live in housing, participants are responsible for rent. We accept GRH, Section 8, self-pay and other funding sources.  

The STEPS OF STRATEGY Leadership & Mentoring Program is a unique mentoring relationship that offers participants an opportunity to develop a close, positive and abundant relationship with a mentor who will empower them in their career interest, personal development and aid them in empower them achieving their leadership potential.

STEPS OF STRATEGY mission is to guide, empower and support our participants through mentoring. Participants are carefully teamed up with a mentor based on their educational and/or career interest as well as a “Getting to Know You” Session with the STEPS OF STRATEGY staff. 

  • The type of mentoring offered in this program is based from volunteers that have knowledge and skill to guide participants in a manner in which lead to healthy independence. Our mentors are professionals and/or nonprofessionals offering traditional mentoring. Traditional mentoring pairs the participant with a carefully selected mentor that can identify resources to help with their individual success. 

Steps of Strategy program commitments require mentors and participants to meet face-to-face monthly and maintain regular communication. Participants are encouraged to attend monthly workshops/activities/events/ Life Steps Circles with the program coordinators to ensure and enhance a healthy mentoring relationship.  

The nature of the relationship between the mentor and mentored is aimed at personal development, tapping into leadership potential, and career interest.  

  • Personal development: Improving interpersonal communication, and fostering self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • Leadership Potential: Enhancing leadership abilities.
  • Career interest: Providing guidance, exploration of career interest and options   
  • Mentors must be one of the following:

    • Selected through Steps of Strategy
    • Have skills and knowledge to support participant
    • Have availability to meet with participant as required
